  • Speakers: Patrick McFadin, Chief Evangelist at DataStax (Data Modeling/Developer Expert)

    Prior to working for DataStax, Patrick was the Chief Architect at Hobsons, an education services company. His responsibilities included ensuring product availability and scaling for all higher education products. Prior to this position, he was the Director of Engineering at Hobsons which he came to after they acquired his company, Link-11 Systems, a software services company. While at Link-11 Systems, he built the first widely popular CRM system for universities, Connect. He obtained a BS in Computer Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and holds the distinction of being the only recipient of a medal (as anyone can find out) for hacking while serving in the US Navy.

    Matt Stump, Solutions Architect at DataStax (Architect Expert)

    Matt is currently a solutions architect at DataStax and is the author of the forthcoming "Cassandra: A Beginner's Guide" published by Packt. He has an extensive background in high performance computing working with companies such as SourceNinja and Symantec. He brings a wealth of knowledge not only in Cassandra, but also in Solr, as he was an extremely early implementer of the technology.

    Al Tobey, Open Source Mechanic at DataStax (Operations Expert)

    Al is a father, technologist, musician, and open source advocate working for Datastax. While attending Central Michigan University as a music major, Al got into MUDs, C, and Linux, eventually ending up with a career as a sysadmin. Over the last 15 years, Al has worked on everything from kernel changes to modern web applications, mostly from inside operations teams. These days he goes by the title Open Source Mechanic, which means he tries to do interesting things with Cassandra and other open source software.
